Rusty-bellied Brush-finch
Rusty-bellied Brush-finch (Atlaptetes nationi nationi) Two subspecies have been described, both are endemic to Peru. The nominate is restricted in the northern portion of the Lima Department whereas subspecies brunneiceps is found in southern Lima Department south to Arequipa. The lower reaches of Santa Eualia Canyon seem to have subspecies brnneiceps while the upper reaches had the nominate. Photographed in the upper region of Santa Eualia Canyon which is about 70 km northeast of Lima, Peru in the high Andes at ca. 4,300 m (14,108 ft) elevation. Puna Life Zone; High altitude grasslands, diminutive herbs and scattered Polylepis trees. Sexes similar.
