Hello Solihull Pecker

Yes, I was at full 500mm zoom range, so 750mm with the Kenko 1.5x TC, handheld with the lens OS switched on and camera SR off. The lens OS system is so good I don't think I need to lug around a tripod much now.
I was out specifically to try the Bigma / TC combo as I'm trying to figure best settings when using them together but very pleased with the results so far.

Hi eenymac. I tend to use the IS in the camera rather than the lens, but will try the other way round as you are clearly getting some good results. To get an image that clear when hand hloding 750mm of lens is astounding.
I use the Sigma 150/500 and have found that if I bring it back a few mm from the max extension it gives a significantly better result.
I have a 2X convertor from way back when I used a 35mm Pentax, I may try that to see what I get. Thanks for the encouragement.

One word of caution. If using the lens OS system, make sure you have a spare battery or two if you are going to be out shooting a lot, as it does drain the batteries quicker!
Yes, backing off a bit on the zoom does provide some better results sometimes but surprisingly, with this TC, the results are good zoomed all the way out!
It's always worth experimenting though with anything at hand, even if the consensus is that results will be bad as they can sometimes surprise.
