HI! I'm very new to Birdforum - but i just had to say what a wonderful shot.
 
I totally agree with the above comments, its stunning. How do you get the dark background..... or is it a secret!!!

Thanks for your kind comments all. Valerie, the dark background was necessitated by the strong sunlight on the bird. If I had exposed for a lighter background, the whites and some bits of the yellows on the bird would have "blown", ie been overexposed, ruining the shot. I am not a great fan of black backgrounds, but they do make for a striking image.
