White-Tailed Kite

White-Tailed Kite (Elanus leucurus)

Taken at the Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline. The kite is roosting about 3/4 mile from the nearest runway at the Oakland International Airport.

He spent this morning hunting in a patch of wetlands just across the street from the main parking area for the airport. Don't think he caught breakfast though. The red streaks are the lights from the air traffic control tower about 1/2 mile behind the kite.

As usual, overcast, dull, grey weather this morning.
