Young Shoaling Fish, Languedoc, France

I have no idea what species these are and young fish can be terribly difficult to identify, but they were shoaling around a freshwater outlet and in such incredibly dense numbers I just had to get some pics.

Thanks KC, it was an amazing sight. We have seen this phenomenon before in the UK but never with such a huge number of fish. The pic captures only a tiny fraction of the shoal concerned! Lee

Great goodness Lee - what an amazing sight that must have been.

You did so well to get a picture of it too - did you need a filter?

Excellent work here lad - very well done.

No filter Delia but I had to lean so far out over the water to avoid the surface reflection that although I was leaning on a sluice gate I nearly ended up in the water. Thanks for your kind words Dellia. Lee

Hi Kitty
Yes it was. We have seen this behaviour at Walberswick in Suffolk but never with such numbers and never in such favourable lighting. Thanks Kits Lee
