Well I finally did it, I treated myself to a New Canon Camera Kit.
I bought a Canon EOS 7D Mk II and a Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5 -5.6 IS II USM Lens.
This is one of my first attempts at an In-Flight shot and I am very pleased with the camera so far. I hope to improve as I gain more experience, any tips most welcome, particularly on settings.

Great stuff Brian and a lovely set up . Hans has the same but uses his full time with the new 1.4 TC with great results . Plenty of info and you tube clips on the net for birds in flight using the 7D mark11 .

I am using the same rig except a mk i telephoto and when the lighting is very good and I need the extra reach a 1.4 TC. (Shorebirds/Waterbirds for instance) and I am loving it.

I started to compile my own and then discovered there was already a good playlist on YouTube for starting out. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...ADLBDf61Zc5Ljo

Also, there is a Dummies Guide for Canon EOS 7D Mark II and I would recommend it heartily.

A super flight shot of this gull, Brian. It bodes well for all your future shots with your new camera.

Congratulations on the new camera and lens! You got a super capture for your first! I have this set-up too and really love it. The trouble is, I also had to have a newer camera too so I use one on bird walks and one at home. Makes sense to me! They're addictive just like the birds.

Congratulations Brian on your new system. There is always a learning curve anytime you buy anything new but it appears you are already taking excellent pictures. I am sure you will be happy with this set up. TFS!
