Another view of Arran - it does rather dominate the scenery around here.

I had a lovely wander round the castle, while Pauline stayed in the car. She wasn't feeling too well, so thought it best to sit in the shade.

It was a bit too hot to go climbing up to the parapet, so I just stayed on the ground.

There's a rather nice looking sea-food restaurant there, which I'd guessed would be rather pricey, but I've just checked the menu and it doesn't seem too bad really. A thought for another time.

I've just re-watched BBC Ivanhoe and (although set further south and even earlier) castles are very much on my mind. Enjoy your travel log immensely.

This a fine photograph Delia. Technically it's good, with both the light and dark area properly exposed, but archways are sort of, er, archetypal! The promise of new beginnings perhaps. Or something like that.
