Two Nuthatches
I was shooting at this limb above the water hole at Cabin Lake, Oregon, when first a Pygmy Nuthatch landed and seconds later a White-breasted, the larger one.. but not together, and I could not have framed both positions at once. I did manage to center the scope on each separately and now have merged the two, with a lot of filling in of "missing" background in the now-larger overall photo. It took several hours of meticulous cloning, painting, blending and blurring to bring it all together. My wife says the branch which I had found and carried (8' long) looks like a sculpture, which inspired me to do this as art.

In all my years on BF (15 now) I don't think I ever posted art, even though I've created many pieces, usually from birds but seldom ending up looking like real birds; so I'm excited to actually post to this gallery and thankful to BF for sponsoring a place I can post this.
