Green-winged Orchid (Anacamptis morio)

I decided Id have a few nights away, so went up to the Lake District, essentially to see Ladys Slipper and Coralroot, but also to take in Leighton Moss and anything else that might be around.

Post Office Lots in Silverdale is limestone grassland and always has a good population of Early Purple Orchids and Green-winged Orchids. The GWO come in a decent variety of colour ways as well as this standard variety. I was very nearly too late for them, another week or so will see them going over.

That's a super picture you've taken of this pretty orchid, I'm so glad you weren't too late to see it.
