Hellish fungus 1

After the diver excitement, we then got into a rather damp, dark area of the forest path and I came across a load of different fungi.

Unfortunately, the forum have been unable to ID them as I didn't get the 'right' images. It didn't really occur to me to 'destroy' them to get pictures of the undersides, though I was vaguely aware that that could sometimes clinch the ID.

Oh well..... thought you might like to see the pictures anyway, as I thought they, and the setting was rather attractive.

That's quite a lovely image of this fungus and so beautifully illustrated D!

Don't think I realized at the time how pretty these were |=)| Don't think they're edible ones, though. I know most of those, and these I couldn't ID. I never eat a mushroom that's a stranger to me, only the ones that are already good friends ;)

They sure are pretty Delia. I wouldn't have wanted to destroy them either.

Fungi are difficult unless you have a mycologist living in the area that can sight ID them. Getting pictures of gills, and at times their bases under the surface seems too destructive for my taste. TFS D!
