Hawking... (Aeshna)

..... or not!

This appears to be another Hawker (or Darner in the States, I've discovered).

Not identified to species, as I couldn't get the right angle on his head apparently, but likely to be either subarctica or juncea. For more information about this species, see my thread in the forums: https://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?p=3805015

He was clinging to the wall of the cabin where I saw the Chiffchaff.

A stunning and beautifully detailed closeup of this Dragonfly D. So beautifully captured.

Not Stephen, though, although this is a male.
Perhaps I got a different angle on his head. I can submit some of my shots to your thread later and see if that helps, but first I need to read my way through the thread to see what angle is needed. And before that I need to finish revising an article, finish my last travel refund forms from last year, have a meeting with two co-authors, get to the gym, get home and make dinner, then pack for a trip to Liverpool ... oh, and sleep ;) So give me a couple of days to get caught up. A long weekend in Liverpool may help. Or not. We'll see.

Oh, and as for me going to Paradise but taking you to Hell - two comments:
Mark Twain once said: Go to heaven for the climate, to hell for the company.
And I was chucked out of a bedsit in Paradise (village near Bergen) back in 1969. Wound up married in Hell six years later ... and haven't regretted my "fall from grace" in the slightest ;)
