thanks for the kind comments all - was very excited to have him finally pay me a visit yesterday, became aware of them loafing about in some large trees behind my property during the summer last year, but utterly camouflaged and I never manage to spot them despite hunting! I believe they raised one chick, as often saw three in flight - with them always seeming to announce the fact that they were taking off - not a call you can mistake! I believe they roost in some trees by the river about 200m from the garden, and are obviously on the look out for food now the weather is worsening.
