After lunch at Oamaru, I drove out to a concession on the point where Little Blue Penguins were protected and could be viewed. I did see some in their nests. There were viewing windows into the nests from a darkened room. No penguin photos allowed from there, though, and no penguins happened to be coming or going outside. But I did get some shots of New Zealand Fur Seals, or Kekeno, snoozing on the rocks and grass between the shore and the penguin nests. I later learned that at this time of the year these were most likely young males, hanging around where the fishing and snoozing made it easy for them to grow to the point where they might stand a chance at challenging some older male for mating privileges.
