Wooden Fishing Boats, River Nile

After taking a solitary early morning stroll with my camera around Crocodile Island in Luxor, I met a local farmer who showed me around his farm on the banks of a back water of the River Nile.

He invited me out on his little wooden boat, which he used a long pole to push our way along the shallow river.

It was so peaceful and tranquil. Just the sound of birds.

A bit rocky for perfect photographs, but a wonderful and unexpected experience.

That's a lovely scene Georgina, thanks so much for sharing your unexpected trip with us and showing us some of your lovely country.

Many thanks, too, for the lovely greeting you left in the thread. It's very much appreciated lass.

This would look lovely (and probably attract more attention) in the Landscapes thread, Georgina. :)

I have to say, G, that I admire
the courage of anyone who
takes a solitary stroll around
a place named Crocodile Island.
You must have nerves of steel.

@Wilberfloss, I just love your comments. This one really made me laugh. Sadly I didn't spot any Nile crocodiles.
