Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata)

At the southern limit of its range, this puffin is molting out of breeding plumage. In particular the spectacular curly blond tufts are starting to molt. The bright parrot-like bill is composed of multiple plates that facilitate carrying multiple fish to their young. At sea, Tufted Puffins forage on squid, euphausiids, and pelagic fish.
