Dandelions

Dandelions (Taraxacum officinale)

There aren't many wild flowers to be photographed looking down from three floors up in the city, but Dandelions, being so common, are an obvious candidate. These two are growing up in the middle of a patch of ivy around the base of a tree.

Thank you for your comments on my pictures, and good birding!

Wondering if anyone had written an appreciation, I searched for the phrase "In praise of dandelions" (what else would it be called?) and found this.

a weed nobody wants john but they are lovely to see in the fields....many thanks....

Gleaming wonderfully against the dark green of the ivy, John. An interesting article too. Who hasn't told the time by blowing a dandelion clock?

(Hope you get your tooth mended soon)

Although they proliferate like a virus (bad time to make that comparison maybe?) I've always considered these a most beautiful blossom. This is a gorgeous image, tfs!

A well spotted image,stands out beautifully among the ivy leaves,i prefer to think of them as little suns. If they were rare maybe people would like them better,why is a well cut lawn a gardeners dream,boring without a couple of dandelions. ;);

LOL I loved Jono's link!!

That's a great picture you've got of these two Dandelions John. Did you really take it from 3 floors up?;)

Thanks my friend.

so common but so beautiful, John, a great photo of these attractive bright yellow flowers in a great setting, and a perfect composition, top notch, many tfs!!!

I fully agree with you about killing small birds for eating them. Every year, starting in the winter, local hunters start massacring skylarks here, as you say, for the sake of tradition, so horrible.
