Tawny owlet trying to fall asleep (Strix aluco)

On the same day as the discovery of a sparrowhawk nest nearby, and on the day before a successful finding of a bee orchid and a massive amount of extremely rare white helleborine orchids on the other side of town!
All of this overwatched by Comet Neowise, which at a brief peak magnitude -2 may have been the brightest comet over the northern hemisphere since Comet West in 1976.

Three gorgeous portraits of this owlet, Gleb. We have tawnies in our garden and they are very noisy, especially in the dead of night. We are used to them, but guests get startled!
