Yellow Billed Cardinal (Paroaria capitata)

Think it's an immature bird that hasn't developed the red on the throat at this stage . Lucky you and a great capture .

That's a super picture you've taken of this cardinal David. Always pays to have the camera fit, well and handy, isn't it LOL.

We don't see too many of these guys coming in, and I presume Ken has the ID of it being a youngster, which will be the first for the Gallery too. I'll therefore upload this lovely image to The Opus shortly.

Thanks ..glad Ken chimed in as there was some discrepancy but the behaviour was a juvi more out for scrounging food than worrying about humans nearby....my roadside shooting has been fortunate this trip.
I was very confused to have a resident Northern Cardinal in the garden as more used to it at home in Canada summer and winter.
Apparently the cowled is actually a tananger?. :scribe: I have a second shot from the side if you would like me to post it.

How beautiful this Cardinal is and an equally beautiful capture as well.

Indeed, please David, there's so few pictures of this species in the Gallery, and your bird is the only juvenile so far too.
