With a serious handicap ...

... performing a little
stretch in that
lovely breeding
plumage ...

... the Plover looked
so beautiful ...

... but seconds later
when he walked
... we were shocked to
see that he did not
have his right foot ...
only a stump
in its place

... but, my word ...
the little fellow had
done well ... despite
the massive handicap ...

A resident breeder in
India ... subject to
local migration depending
on the condition of
wetlands and availability
of food ...

Oh dear, what a shame Alok... and when I first saw the picture I thought he was doing his best ballerina moves.

Birds do seem to manage so well with these handicaps, I've seen many Puffins without a foot. Not sure why, maybe discarded fishing nets or Auk attacks.... don't really know.

You've a super picture of this guy - very well done my friend.
