Linnet (Linaria cannabina)

Another 3 from Embo in April. On the walk out to Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, just after the wheatears, there were quite a few of these flitting about the gorse. None came near, so heavily cropped.

Beautiful bird, pose and setting. Lovely portrait of this Linnet.
Intentional killing of an endangered species is a serious crime punishable by large fines here. 50 000 Euros is the highest possible fine for such a crime. Away from this possible fine is the worst thing for me that I had to end the life of an animal that could be still alive. It was horrible to see the intact head with the moving tongue and the smashed body. Only because of this s___bag is this animal dead.
