Common Magpies

Common Magpies (Pica pica)

Very little to be seen from my window for the last two months, practically no small birds, just the occasional crow, feral pigeon or Magpie (it was nice to get four this morning). It's the worst summer "bird drought" I can remember. The weather doesn't help, very windy.

It was good to get one mammal image though, as it's only the second time I've photographed the species. Nice little thing it was: Long-tailed Urban Mouse (OK, it was a rat). Might post it one day!

I very much hope you're all OK folks. See you in the morning.

Lovely to see you again, John.

A wonderfully detailed and lit capture, showing the colours beautifully. Four for a boy!

That's a marvellous picture you've taken of this group of maggies John... don't write them off as 'just' though... I've not seen one since Christmas here (did find one up the glens back in the summer though).

Many thanks for reminding me of their existence my friend. Cheers lad.

Very nice pic! That one in the center looks airbrushed in it's so perfect.
I like the iridescent flashes on the magpies, and you've captured that beautifully. Plus various other aspects. Well done.

Brilliant aerial pose you captured this gorgeous Magpie in with marvelous stop-action. Exceptional John! TFS!
