Heres A Whooper & A Bewick Swan Together In A Estuary Field, You Can See The Whooper Is The Size Of A Mute Swan, Note The Yellow Patch On The Bewicks Bill Its Much Smaller & Dosnt Extend Beyond The Start Of Its Nostrils,
A Estuary First Together, There Not That Common This Far South Birders, Bewicks Our The Most Scarce!!!!

Gosh I just never realised the Bewicks were that much smaller! Thanks for that S&S a great comparision picture.

We get lots of Whoopers over here but not the Bewicks, just the occasional one which we go and twitch LOL.

Couldn't ask for a better comparison shot and a beautiful shot it is guys.
 
now you say i am fortunate with my whoopers but i have never seen a bewicks never mind get the two together.fantastic sue&simon.mind you about 3 years ago i took my dogs a walk around midnight around my local pond.heard my swans and different swans on the pond could see them in the moonlight.my mutes were chasing 2 swans we only see whoopers here but i thought these other swans were alot smaller but who knows.many tfs.all the best margaret.
