Skipper on lavender (Hylephila phyleus)

I think this one was a Fiery Skipper - easier to identify with its wings open, as they were on another shot, but this shot was nevertheless better. Taken on my lunch break that day. That was the day we saw about 30 apecies of warblers and vireos in two hours at one spot. I needed a rest from the excitement. Just trying to see them as they were called almost gave me whiplash ;) So I took a break at Beach Plum Farm for lunch where I watched birds and butterflies in the herb and floral gardens by the tables and then went for a walk in the cool shade of the marsh stream woods.

What a lovely picture you've got of this skipper. Can't help with the ID though - never heard of this one!
