Skylark (Alauda arvensis)

When I got to the beach area, I heard Skylarks in the air. First time I've managed a decent shot of one in song flight :D

Oh, and a colleague just sent me an article about birdsong. One point in the article is that the background "music" of birdsong is a strong trigger of nostalgia while unfamiliar birdsong triggers feelings of unease and estrangement. Perhaps that's why European colonists introduced so many of their home bird species to the colonies - they missed not so much the sight of them, but the sounds.
