Small Owl (Athene Noctua) (Athene noctua)

For five years, I have had the pleasure to watch these owls in my neighbourhood. In fact their day-hide is in a hollow apple tree 30 yards from my kitchen window. Often, when I get up and prepare my morning tea, I say a silent "hello" when she's already perched on her small twig. Last summer I caught her in a meadow behing our house in the early evening. This is a series of pics I shot with my digiscoping equipment (Kowa 883, DA4/DA10, 20-60 eyepiece and Sony RX 100 II camera). This is a 60x magnification, so in spite of a good Gitzo head and tripod it's not as sharp as I would like it to be.

That's a lovely picture you've taken of this Little Owl PW. I saw one for the first time this year!!!

It's great to see you posting again. I hope you and your family have a very happy New Year.

Thanks very much, dear Delia, and my best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year go out to you. My mother passed about four weeks ago at 94 after a long time of losing her strenth because of her severe illness, and it caused the family a lot of power. This explains why I have not really been busy taking pictures this year, but I hope this year will be better.

Great close up and a well defined and colourful capture of this beauty, well done.

Not Very good distance for taking shots , 30 yards is about 27 meters and you need powerful zoom , my Nikon P600 Lens zoom is 24-1440 mm yet it does not bring very close in some distants distances !
But you have captured it very well , great shot , many tfs ;)
