Small Tortoiseshell - Aglais urticae (Aglais urticae)

There was nothing 'small' about the impact this little beauty had on me when I saw it with its rich orange colour feeding in a small group of slightly less pristine same specie butterflies.
Thankfully it was too busy to notice me approach and continued feeding allowing me a few shots to record its splendour.

Many thanks Kits , Katastrofa ( yes , sadly more hair than me !! ) and Stanley.

Amongst all those tortoiseshells there at the time this individual stood out as its colour was so intense.
