Snail Kite (male)
Snail Kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis subsp. sociabilis) Male, species sexually dimorphic. Challuacocha Oxbow in front of Sani Lodge, Sucumbios Province, Ecuador. Always in bad lighting and from a canoe which exacerbated the situation (thats my excuse and I am sticking with it, lol). The kites always perched on Swamp Aroid also known as Aninga (Montrichardia linifera: Araceae). I also observed Hoatzins eating the leaves and parrots eating the fruits of this aquatic species. Ecuadorian Submontane Amazonian Rainforest at ca. 200 m ( 656 ft) elevation. Napo River floodplain.

It's a damn fine image for being taken from a running boat Stanley. A beautiful Kite and a beautiful capture of it.

Stanley I couldn't better this capture if I was on terra firma in perfect lighting! Beautiful shot of a delightful BOP in a gorgeous setting! Great work!
