Snow Bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis)

Woohoo! a first for me. I've wanted photos of these beautiful birds for a long time and finally managed it last week. We've been having very high tides lately and there has been a large flock of 500 to 700 Snow Buntings foraging in the parking lot of one of our State Parks along with Dunlin, Black-bellied Plovers and Horned Larks. I'm about an hour from the coast and it was worth the drive over on a couple days to get some pics.

Excellent capture of this beautiful bird, Deanne. Congratulations on your lifer. Two have been sighted in Virginia this fall - maybe I'll get lucky and stumble upon one (that would be great!).

Well your first picture of these would be a picture of a lifetime for most of us. Excellent detail, pose, lighting, and bird, Deanne, very well done.

This is a stunner Deanne - I am very envious, we get one or two at a time and it is like searching for a needle in a haystack. The detail is superb.:t::t::t:

Well done on your first! Couldn't be any better either. I've yet to photograph one of these but hope I can get one just as good one day - thanks for sharing
