It may help others if you could give the location of where you saw the bird too; "hotel grounds" is really more the habitat LOL.

Whatever... you've a super picture of him - very well done laddie.

Are we sure it is not a Kiskadee? Not sure of your location exavtly, but I just photographed several this last weekend, in Guadalajara and it is nearly identical. The only thing is size, and I have no reference for that. The bill size would indicate to me that it is a Great Kiskadee, along with the fact that we can not see the crown ( amount of yellow)....But, hey, what do I know?

I do know it is a beautiful image!! Very well done!!

I am with Tom! I believe this is a Great Kiskadee. Bill size and shape precludes Rusty-margin. Too much rust in wings and tail for Boat-bill.

Thanks guys.... I knew there was a look-alike, but couldn't bring the name 'kiskadee' to mind last night.
