Formerly a subspecies of the larger Brown-necked Raven, the Somali Crow is found in the Horn of Africa, covering Somalia, northern Kenya, Djibouti and eastern Ethiopia. It is distinguished from the former by its distinct call and differing appearance and behaviour. Interestingly, hybridisation has been recorded between Somali Crow and the morphologically distinct Pied Crow where their ranges overlap, reinforcing the thought that they are far more closely related than either are to the Brown-necked Raven. This beady-looking Somali Crow was captured by Markus Lilje in Ethiopia.
