Song sparrow perched on California buckeye flowers (Melospiza melodia)

I've always wondered how people got photos like this. Luck is the best teacher sometimes. I was on a bridge, looking down at the sparrow. The background was the valley floor, which was dimly lit. There is very little post processing to this photo.

Coming from a birder that takes the art of photography as seriously as time allows, this shot is supremely composed and exposed. Maybe luck can offer the opportunity, but recognizing the image when it presents itself is straight skill. Gorgeous.
