Song Sparrow ??? (Melospiza melodia ??)

I believe these are Song Sparrow, but didn't quite look right to me. Also doesn't quite match the ones in any of my books but looks closest to that.
If anyone can help out with positive ID, thanks.
Song Sparrows are very common here but something was a bit different about these.
Habitat
trees, fields, ponds
Location
Vischer's Ferry, NY
Date taken
6-14-08
Scientific name
Melospiza melodia ??
Equipment used
D80 w/ 50-500 Sigma
I cannot tell definitely according to my limited knowledge, but they do have some common features with the Song Sparrows, eg. the brown streaks in the breast. I also found that the colour of this bird varies quite a bite according to plumage. The best aid may be to hear how they call, or sing.
