Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia)

I have several Song Sparrows in my yard at any one time. They are quite used to me. But this is a "wild" sparrow I met while on a walk. It perched on a fence post and chirped at me constantly as I passed. It stayed on the post until I was well beyond its territory. Then it seemed satisfied that it had bravely defended the area, and hopped off and disappeared into the roadside shrubbery.
