Southern Grey Shrike
Here is another Grey Shrike, Margaret. I think it's tongue is sticking out in its wide open mouth. Shot taken late evening in poor light from a long distance and a big crop applied, hence quality not so good. A first for me. Hope to get a better shot next time around.
Habitat
Open semi desert, scrub, thorn forest, field-margins
Location
Hubli, India
Date taken
09-11-2014
Scientific name
Lanius meridionalis
Equipment used
fujifilm finepix HS 50 EXR, handheld, cropped
Congrats on your first, SK; it's either it's tongue or it's last meal trying to escape ;)

Two good uns, well done SK...I reckon this Shrike might be regurgitating a pellet.

A great shot showing this behaviour SK - I was thinking what Mali said... I presume, like owls, that they do that?

Well done lad.
