Spangled Drongo
Spangled Drongo (25.5cm).

A Spangled Drongo of race striatus which is endemic to the islands of Basilan, Nipa and Mindanao. It lacks the wide tail and is far smaller than many of the other races. There is much confusion over the Spangled Drongo in the Philippines and other parts of SE Asia. There are six races just in the Philippines and then several others between India and Australia. This is a species that will likely be split into several full species sometime in the future.
