Spanish Dragonfly

Spanish Dragonfly

If anybody has any idea of the identity of this critter do say. Taken in the wooded dunes that cover the Punta Umbria was one of the highlights of a morning wander. Hoopoe, Scops Owl and Crested Tits all on show but not well enough to grab pictures. Want to return there and have a proper look at Donana and the Odiel wetlands - but when there is some water!
Habitat
Pine covered dunes
Location
Punta Umbria
Date taken
26/08/08
Equipment used
40D 300f4
Red-veined Darter. The veins are visible and also the yellow pterostigma and, always a good pointer for this species, the blue underside to the eyes. Oh, and a very nice shot as well!

Thanks Adey, I was hoping one of our Spanish colleagues would be able to put a name to it, but I wish I had your knowledge! Nice to add another tick.

Geeez, I'm turning into a dragonfly twitcher! ;)

Lovely to see this old chap showing off in the gallery in such a beautiful image!!! ;) Adey couldn't explain better what it is! :t: Haven't you seen the beautiful male? The lady is not bad either though! ;)
