sparrow hawk

I know I have shown photos of this Sparrow Hawk before but he is one of my favourites. Clever, cunning he is, now hiding inside the log feeder for sometimes as long as one hour. From my house I cannot see him but the other birds tell me without doubt he is there. I can only see him if i am in my hide as this close up shows. You learn more and more each day of the behaviour of all our birds. It is wonderful to watch.
He must now be as old as me in bird terms, thats old. LOL.

Wow! Great close-up! I've been hearing reports about a Sparrowhawk here in Trondheim, but have yet to see him. Now I understand why. He must have a good hiding spot as he's only seen when he suddenly appears to pounce on some small bird foraging spilled seeds at the grain silos by the harbour.
