Sparrowhawk with prey (not a Mouse) (Accipiter nisus)

Well, he's gone back to the Sparrows now; I guess the Mice will be back in a while.

Either sad or ironic the story of this male House Sparrow... depends on your point of view I guess. He was collecting feathers for the nest; there's always a few feathers in the garden, mostly from previous kills. He's now added to the feathers, and another Sparrow will soon be picking up one of his feathers for it's own nest.

Through the double glazing etc

They have to eat every day. Fred is awesome and beautiful. Truly awesome captures. Your Fred is such a successful raptor. Hope he will not hunt himself one day. LOL. Sorry for the silly joke. As I already expressed, I hope for mice and birds for Fred. An almost unique nearness and also relation to such a beautiful bird of prey.

sad and ironic chris.sad this sparrow lost its life, ironic it was trying to build a nest to create a life but life is life and both this sparrow and hawk live the same life.my little hawk has really opened my eyes to predators,as alot of the time he sits a preens himself and the birds around him get on with their life but still aware of him there.many tfs on your info and kind comments and brilliant hawk captures chris.all the best margaret.
