sparrowhawks mating!
A dream come true. I was so excited to see this happen before my eyes that I did not take the time to focus accurately...

The male offered a prey to the female, and shortly after the couple mated. After the mating, the female had her meal.
I know these birds for only two weeks now, but it is already clear that they have some favorite perches. This thick horizontal branch of a wingnut tree seems to be an ideal "dining table & bed".
I'll be back for sure, and try to remain calm no matter what happens in front of my scope!

I'm deeply admiring your presence of mind to register this snapshot of one of your most beloved birdspecies.
Very professional!
Thanks!

A splendid capture Erwin - and excellent details as well! :t: I didn't know until now that the males of this species offered gifts of food before mating - thank you.

What an amazing opportunity was presented to you! I would have failed miserably. You did well .. extremely well! Its not something anyone sees more than once in a birding lifetime. Cheers.
