The bird was showing well although further away than I would have liked.

Have Spotted Crakes been seen at Oare before, so you know?? I can't recall seeing them on the board or hearing anyone mention them.

Looks like this one was quite close....

Lucky devil. Just seeing one is a challenge, never mind grabbing an image. ;)
 
According to the KOS website Spotted Crake is a new bird for Oare.

We were very lucky. We had arrived for the evening high tide and as we got there someone told us about the crake viewable from the East bank. It showed well (about 50 yds away) and I managed to get some reasonable shots. It had gone by Sunday.

A good year tick for me.
 
This is really something special. I wish I could see it but probably this can happen only on Birdforum with your photo.
