Spotted Creeper, Ethiopia, Hawassa (Salpornis salvadori)

This bird was very hard to see against the bark of the trees on which it foraged. It never stayed still as it actively searched for insects in the bark, spiraling its way up the trunk and along the larger limbs, and then flying to the lower part of an adjacent tree to repeat the behavior. I had to keep moving my camera (on tripod) to finally catch it in near-profile position against a contrasting background. It is a rather uncommon species.

Wow!! How well named he is Ronald!! What a great picture to get of him too.

I've changed the scientific name as the one you used goes to the Indian one... very confusing, isn't it LOL.

I think your picture is an improvement on the one currently showing in Opus, so I'll probably use your one there now. Many thanks for sharing it with us.
