Spotted Flycatcher juvenile (Muscicapa striata)

On the way back down from the hill, I detoured to explore some of the back lanes "trunking" as my sister-in-law calls it (looking in people's back gardens LOL). There's some lovely big gardens up there!!

I saw some movment on a branch but couldn't make out what it was (small and constantly preening), so took a few images to ID later.

When I got home and down-loaded it - couldn't believe my thoughts on it being a Spot Fly (I've not seen one for years), so sent it to my friend for confirmation.

He confirmed my thoughts and said it was a juvenile. Ah! Now I know why it was a little different. So my first ever juvie of this species.

A very pleasing sight.

'Trunking' - I love it! It reminds me of childhood days and post-prandial walks with my Grandparents when they would carefully inspect the floral contents of neighbours front gardens! I also love your capture of this little beauty Delia and congratulations on the Lifer!
