Standing proud (Falco columbarius)

Whilst watching some Short-eared Owls this Merlin was sat on the hand rail of a footbridge 80m in front of me. On two occasions one of the owls flew over the top of it causing the Merlin to chase after it. A marvellous sight to watch the aerial acrobatics between the slow and graceful but nimble owls with the fast darting style of the hawk. Afterwards each time the Merlin came to settle on the fence 10m away from where I was stood.
