Stripe-backed Flower Fly (Helophilus fasciatus: Syrphidae) 1.0-1.5 cm long (0.39-0.59 in) long. Photographed on Mexican marigold (Tagetes lucida: Asteraceae).
Habitat
Post Oak Savannah vegetation area. An arboretum with some natives at ca. 99 m (325 ft) elevation.
Location
Brazos County Arboretum, Bryan, Texas, USA.

Aha! Thanks for the ID. I have an image of something similar that I hadn't identified yet. I need to go to the library and check that one and an unidentified wasp.
