STRIPED RACER (Dendrelaphis caudolineatus)

Hi! I was about to enter the forest edge, the snake was there of somesort giving me warning to have my feet protected again other snake bite. I was so surprise to see the snake with the head high up. I went closer to it and played my charm by turning my camera (at full length) round and round infront of it.
There, it stayed and would not move. There too, I spent my self snapping at it, which of course with care as not agitating it. I read it can spary its vernom for about 6 ft and I was closer than that. Afetr I had finished, as if it understood me, it crept to thick bushes and disappeared. Soo... HI!!!! Birders!!! Watch your feet! Do Not step on the long snake tail...!!!

LOL Karim I could enter any forest here in the Uk without any danger of stepping on any snakes tail but in the offchance i ever go anywhere exotic ill heed your warning ;) Great photos, what an amazing experience. Like with our fox experience yesterday it is truely humbling to be in the close proximity of something so truely wild. Nice one!

Excellent photo. As suggested by an earlier poster this isn't a cobra (also note that the only species of cobra in Borneo is Naja sumatrana). This is a member of the genus Dendrelaphis, probably D. caudolineatus.

Thank you very much Rasmus Boegh.
I find it the same snake as mine from the name you give at
http://www.natureeyes.dk/fotoarkiv_art.asp?species_id=518&side=0
It was photographed at Kota Kinabalu.

Karim I can assure you that this is a harmless non-venomous snake. I have handled it many times.
