Stubborn?
Judy returned, so we very shortly set off to return home.

On the way we called in at Wivenhoe Dam - a huge lake.

I made my way down the rather steep slope towards the water and the first bird to come within range of my camera was this Hardhead.

can't deny its common ancestors with our pochards and tufted ducks, Delia!! great photo with lovely reflections, top class, many tfs!!!

I read that the name comes of their heads being hard for taxidermists to do well ... but that doesn't sound like a good reason for a bird's name to me.
