Sultan's Cuckoo-Dove
Sometimes called "Sulawesi Cuckoo-Dove." This is a male. Females are similar but have more extensive barring on the nape. This should be the race "M. d. albiceps" ("M. d. batchianensis" is a synonym) found in the northern Moluccas characterized by its more rusty-brown crown and head as seen here. Sometimes lumped with Amboyna Cuckoo-Dove (M. amboinensis) and formerly lumped with Brown Cuckoo-Dove (M. phasianella) of Australia. The combined species was called "Slender-billed Cuckoo-Dove."
