Summer/Autumn Leaves (Dendrocopos minor)

My first Lesser Spotted Woodpecker picture and only my second view ever!!! o:) Who is a happy girl? :-O

I didn't post it before because I didn't know what to do with it. Crop it like a portrait? Show it with surroundings? Finally I went for the second option, I liked the bicoloured leaves around and in a portrait I would have had to do some cloning out that I didnt want to do. Hope it works like this! o:)
Location
El Pardo, outskirts of Madrid, C Spain
Date taken
9 August 2010
Scientific name
Dendrocopos minor
Equipment used
Canon 50D + Sigma 50-500mm (handheld, ISO500, f/5.6, 1/400s, +1 ev)
:bounce: Tons of thanks for looking and all those marvelous encouraging comments, immensely appreciated!!! o:)

It's a special pic for me, not only for the beautiful special bird but for the souvenir it makes of a super birding day!!! :bounce: And even if it was restless I could track it for quite a long time, so I have a nice series of pics... oddly, this is the last in the series, and is my favourite!

Yes, Jamiedude, that's it... well infered! ;)
Bernard, thank you for your appreciation, wow, that makes me very happy!!! o:)
Helwa Dulce Doux g/f, the red eyed stricked me too, I didn't know they have red eyes!!! :eek!: You can borrow them, of course... but I doubt a red stare of this kind will have any effect on bad-behavied students of nowadays! :-O

Thanks from the bottom of my heart, and cheers everybody!!! B :)

Yes Marian you have why to be happy! Congratulations for finding the bird and taking this nice shot. Very fine composition showing the bird in a good pose.

Congratulations again,
Cristian

You're a clever and sensible girl,Marian,of course you made the right choice!! It's a small bird,so why make it larger than life. ;); Excellent shot of a bird that isn't easy to catch, mostly hanging about in the treetops which makes it hard to expose. You've got a great image to be proud of. Well done. :t:

good job Marian - what a beauty and so well photographed, check out that eye! I've never seen of of these - TFS!
