Summer Tanager
This is a female. Note the more olive colored back and mustard yellow underparts characteristic of the eastern nominate subspecies. Western populations average duller and paler. Genetics have found that the North American tanagers in the genus "Piranga" are actually not related to the colorful true tanagers of the tropics (Thraupidae), but actually belong to the Cardinal/Grosbeak family (Cardinalidae).
