Thanks for the info Tim but i dont think its a robberfly as it was feeding on pollen unless they do that as well thnaks again Phill
 
I see what you mean Phil. The head seems a bit small too doesn't it and I guess it's not furry enough.
 
I think ive found it its a relative of the robber called a dance fly (empis opaca ) they feed on flower nectar and have reallly long proboscus so hope it this one thanks for the help Tim cheers Phill
 
I think im going senile as ive relooked up dance flies and they are predators like robber fiies so sorry for any missinformation,and to be honest i carnt remember where i read they were nectar feeders,so of to the funny farm to get my head checked.
